Karnataka Govt’s Study Abroad Scheme Attracts Over 5,000 Students

Bengaluru, Aug 17, 2025: The Karnataka government’s “Study Abroad” initiative has drawn massive interest, with more than 5,000 students registering at the state’s education expo held in Bengaluru on Sunday.

A Global Education Expo

The event, organized by the Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation (KVTSDC), brought together representatives from over 60 international universities at Hotel Lalit Ashok. Students had the chance to explore study options across multiple countries under one roof.

Financial Support for Students

To make overseas education more affordable, several public and private sector banks partnered with the government during the expo. Karnataka Bank announced special student-friendly loan packages, while other banks also offered competitive financing options to aspiring students.

Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, Minister for Medical Education, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood, highlighted the government’s vision of inclusivity. “Studying abroad should not be limited to the wealthy. With this scheme, students from even the most modest backgrounds can pursue international education without financial hurdles,” he said.

The program not only covers pre-departure guidance but also ensures continued support for students once they reach their host countries. This includes welfare services, academic monitoring, and even legal assistance when needed.
